I need some advice from you. Diets are sometimes hard to maintain so I had preferred to take medication to lose my extra weight. I’ve learn that the best way to lose weight is to do it naturally with some exercises. I did this but in 7 months I was only able to lose 15 pounds. A friend of mine has used Xenical and has been able to lose 8 pounds in three months but this did not work for me. Now I want to try Acomplia. I only read about it on the net but I would like to have an opinion from someone who has used it. What are the side effects? Is it safe? How does it work? Can someone answer my questions please?

Norine,

Articles about Acomplia (rimonabant) are posted here:

I am not very impressed with the weight loss shown in the studies, plus it increases the risk of depression and suicide. Not good.

I would not recommend using Acomplia.

A similar drug called taranabant—compared to Acomplia which is rimanobant—could be approved in a couple of years.

Two people from a study being done have reported losing 50-60 pounds with the drug and they said they had no side effects.
