Mice bred to not release GABA are lean, burn more calories and resist diet-induced obesity
Mice bred to lack a gene that causes release of the neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) are lean and resist diet-induced obesity because of increased energy expenditure according to a new study from researchers at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
