Do starch blockers cause weight loss?

Someone email and asked if starch blockers cause weight loss.

No, I am not aware of any evidence showing that they cause weight loss.

“Clinical studies have yet to indicate any significant effect of [amylase inhibitors, that is starch blockers] on body weight,” obesity researcher George Bray, MD wrote in the book Handbook of Obesity (p. 967).
