Red yeast rice at 0.4% of diet, equal to 2 grams per day, reduces weight gain in rats by 21.5%

Red mold rice, usually referred to as "red yeast rice", given at a dose of 0.4 percent of diet -- the equivalent of 2 grams (2000 mg) given to someone who is 143 pounds, or 2.8 grams (2800 mg) for someone who is 200 pounds -- reduced weight gain by 21.5 percent in growing rats fed a high-fat diet according to a study from researchers at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan.


Two grams per day (2000 mg) is "the usual recommended daily dietary dose" according to the paper.

Red mold rice, usually referred to as "red yeast rice", given at a dose of 2 percent of diet -- the equivalent of 10 grams (10,000 mg) given to someone who is 143 pounds, or 14 grams (14,000 mg) for someone who is 200 pounds -- reduced weight gain by 30.5 percent in growing rats fed a high-fat diet according to a study from researchers at National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan.


DO NOT TAKE MORE THAN 2,000 MG PER DAY


The usual recommended dose is red mold rice is 2 grams (2000 mg) per day. The does used here was 5 times more than normal. Do not take 10 grams (10,000 mg) per day unless you are told to do so by your health care provider.
