DRUG AND ALCOHOL PROBLEMS

74-85% of alcoholics sober & stable 3.5 years after nutritional therapy, Joan Mathews Larson PhD

Seventy-four percent (74%) to 85% of alcoholics were found to be sober and emotionally stable 3.5 years after going through the Health Recovery Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA founded by Joan Mathews Larson PhD who treats drug and alcohol problems as well as anxiety and depression with a nutritional approach.

This compares to about a 5% success with “Talk Therapy” based programs such as Alcoholics Anonymous.

FOOD ALLERGIES

Food allergies are the most common cause of depression notes Joan Mathews-Larson, PhD

The most common cause of depression and most mood disorders, including many schizophrenics, are brain allergies caused by foods that we are allergic to according to Joan Mathews-Larson, PhD, author of Depression-Free, Naturally: 7 Weeks to Eliminating Anxiety, Despair, Fatigue, and Anger from Your Life.

She notes that getting people to avoid foods that they are allergic to has provided the most amazing depression recoveries that Dr. Larson has seen in more than 30 years.

NATURAL TREATMENTS

Cure for alcoholism, anxiety & depression, Joan Mathews Larson - 1 of 3 - Rats cured with vitamins

Drug and alcohol problems are the result of biochemical glitches. They are not caused by a lack of will power and cannot be solved with talk therapy. Prescription drugs such as Prozac cannot correct these problems either. I believe the exact same thing is true for anxiety and depression.

In this audio clip, you will hear Dr. Julian Whitaker describe the research of American biochemist, Dr. Roger Williams.

He found that "alcoholic" rats could be cured of their desire for alcohol with large doses of nutrients.

You will then hear Dr. Whitaker interview Joan Mathews Larson, PhD whose son committed suicide about 30 years ago after returning from talk therapy.

Dr. Larson committed her life to finding a better way, and came across the research of Dr. Roger Williams.

(Note: The video clip includes both part 1 and part 2.) Read the entire article | Email this article

NATURAL TREATMENTS

In this 3rd part of Dr. Julian Whitaker's interview with Joan Mathews Larson, PhD, she notes that drugs are not the answer for alcohol and drug problems, nor for the treatment of anxiety and depression.

Dr. Larson notes that she is bewildered how doctors can believe that drugs can solve the problem rather than using the natural chemicals that we are made of. Read the entire article | Email this article

BENZODIAZEPINES & ANTIPSYCHOTICS

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD hates benzodiazepines and antipsychotic drugs

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD hates benzodiazepines and antipsychotic drugs the most.

In this video clip, Dr. Larson notes that…

“The group of drugs that I abhor [hate] the most…

“Are [really] the benzodiazepines [anti-anxiety drugs like Alprazolam (Xanax)], but I don’t talk about those.

“We won’t even treat people who have been on benzodiazepines for 20 years and who are 60 years old [because] you cannot get those people off [their drugs]…

“You can get them off [those drugs], but they’re crazy and they want to sue you, so don’t do that.

“This group of antipsychotics, Olanzapine (Zyprexa), Quetiapine (Seroquel), Risperidone (Risperdal)…

“These drugs are freely given for sleep in other programs.

“A study was published in 2006 in JAMA [Journal of the American Medical Association] on these three drugs.

“The subjects were elderly people [in nursing homes], and over half of them, 54%, were dead within 12 days of starting this study.

“These drugs can cause nerve damage, weight gain, pounding heart, temporary paralysis.

“These drugs are not needed to sleep.

“There are much better ways to sleep [with natural treatments].”

ORTHOMOLECULAR MEDICINE

Before and After picture of depressed woman treated with natural approach, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD

Here is an amazing before and after picture of a woman named Mary treated for long-term depression with a nutritional approach at Joan Mathews Larson PhD’s clinic in Minneapolis, Minnesota called Health Recovery Center.

Here is what Dr. Larson says.

“I want to leave this impression as we talk about antidepressants.

“Here is a picture, and I think a picture is worth a thousand words.

“Here is a woman who had been for a long time going from place to place… 14 years.

“And her father was a medical doctor.

“And he was somewhat alarmed when she said she wanted to go to [Dr. Larson’s] Health Recovery Center, but then, looking at the whole picture, he said she was going to die anyway, and so it really did not matter.

“She truly had many drugs given to her, and was a great fan of 12-Steps [Talk Therapy] for a long time.

“This is a picture of Mary 6 months later.

“So in every one of the clients that you treat, there is a Mary waiting to be released.”

—Joan Mathews Larson, PhD, speaking at a conference on Sept 27, 2007

GLUTAMINE

Glutamine is a fabulous for blocking sugar cravings according to Joan Mathews Larson, PhD

"Glutamine... is a fabulous amino acid when it comes to blocking sugar cravings," notes Joan Mathews Larson, PhD, author of "Depression-Free Naturally".

"I call it 'God's gift to Hypoglycemics' because in emergencies it can be absorbed directly into the blood stream, bypassing your intestinal
tract."

"Relief from cravings comes swiftly by opening a capsule and dissolving it in your mouth under your tongue (it tastes mildly sweet.)

"Inside your brain, glutamine converts to glutamic acid, the only other source of glucose available to the brain.

"So it becomes a great alternative source of brain fuel that will stop cravings set off by glucose levels that are dropping too low.

"(Alcoholics using glutamine this way can and do successfully stop cravings for alcohol, which speaks loudly to these cravings having a hypoglycemic basis.)" Read the entire article | Email this article

DEPRESSION

Evening Primrose Oil is a powerful antidepressant for some, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD

Gamma Linoleic Acid (GLA) found in Evening Primrose Oil is converted in the body into a powerful antidepressant called Prostaglandin E1 (PGE1) as noted in this video of a speech given by Joan Mathews Larson, PhD.

She notes that even though Borage Oil seems like a cheaper source of GLA, Evening Primrose Oil is much better than Borage Oil because it is taken up by the brain much better than Borage Oil.

Dr. Larson gives a "loading dose" of one capsule with each meal in other words, 3 capsules per day and then backs off to 1-2 capsules per day according to an email I got from her office.

I've been taking Evening Primrose Oil for the past few months and I do like the effects.

I started off with 3 capsules per day each containing 1300 mg of Evening Primrose Oil.

I noticed lots of energy immediately.

But then after several days I felt a little anxious and had a little trouble sleeping, so I stopped for a couple days, then started with 1 capsule.

And after a couple of weeks, I increased it to 2 capsules per day and I feel great.

My muscles also feel better when I exercise.

ANXIETY / DEPRESSION

Joan Mathews Larson, PhD: Vitamin B3 deficiency can cause anxiety, fatigue, depression

For 30 years, Joan Mathews Larson, PhD has been treating addiction, anxiety and depression with natural supplements in order to correct the underlying biochemical problems which cause these conditions.

In this video clip, she tells how a deficiency of vitamin B3, niacinamide, can cause anxiety depression and fatigue.

She also notes that vitamin B3 can eliminate a kind of alcohol psychosis that causes paranoia and feeling quarrelsome.

Note: the doses of vitamin B3 used for this are several thousand milligrams, which is a much higher dose than is found in multiple vitamins.

Dr. Larson also points out that anti-anxiety medicines such as Valium, Xanax, Ativan, and Librium attach to the same anti-anxiety receptors in the brain as vitamin B3.

She also notes that when the patent for Valium ran out, the drug company, Hoffman LaRoche, admitted that they got the formula for Valium by trying to copy the chemical structure of vitamin B3.

Imagine that. Read the entire article | Email this article
