Women given bio-identical hormones say, ‘I feel like myself again’, Jonathan Wright, MD
In this one-minute audio clip, Jonathan Wright, MD notes that he has heard, over and over, from women who were switched from traditional hormone replacement which includes Premarin (estrogens from pregnant horses) and Provera (medroxyprogesterone, which is NOT progesterone that is found in women’s bodies) to bio-identical hormones that are identical to those that are found in the body, these women would say, “I feel like myself again!”

We know who is going to get Type 2 diabetes 20 years before it happens, Jonathan Wright, MD
"We don't have to wait to get Type 2 diabetes."
"You can tell 20 years in advance if you are going to get it or not, partly by just lookin at your family history, but there is a very precise test… very precise, best described by a Dr. Joseph Kraft in 1976."

HYPOTHYROIDISM
Elevated Reverse T3 correlates BEST with hypothyroidism, NOT elevated TSH, & can be cause by mercury
Elevated levels of TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) in the blood are NOT the best way to diagnose hypothyroidism as modern medicine has been led to believe according to a yet-to-be-published study by Davis Lamson, ND.
The thing that correlated best with a clinical diagnosis of hypothyroidism—that is, a diagnosis made on the basis of medical signs and patient-reported symptoms rather than lab tests—is elevated levels of Reverse T3 thyroid hormone.
Reverse T3 blocks T3 thyroid receptors which reduces metabolism.
Results of Dr. Lamson’s study were described by Jonathan Wright, MD in an interview he did with Joseph Mercola, DO.
Dr. Lamson works with Dr. Wright at Dr. Wright’s clinic.
By blocking T3 receptors, Reverse T3 is natures’ way of protecting us from starving so quickly by reducing metabolism.
But that’s not all.
They also found that in people with elevated Reverse T3 levels, that 95% of the time, these people had elevated levels of mercury or lead or cadmium or other heavy metals, and when they got rid of the mercury, lead or other heavy metals, levels of Reverse T3 returned to normal.
This is of interest to me because I recently found out that I am suffering from mercury toxicity, and I have had thyroid problems, feeling cold and having a low body temperature, as low as 96.3°F over several months when my symptoms of mercury toxicity were at their worst in the Fall of 2015.

Iodine is VERY important for the body to convert pro-cancerous estone to the anti-cancerous estriol
In this 3.5-minute audio clip Jonathan Wright, MD notes that consuming enough iodine is VERY important for the body to convert the pro-cancerous estrogen called estrone into the anti-cancerous estrogen called estriol (that protects against cancer).
He notes that he found this by accident when giving women iodine and testing their hormone levels.
He notes that he found that giving women iodine made such a difference in the estriol production.
Iodine protects against breast cancer
Iodine helps to protect against breast cancer
He notes that because of this, iodine helps to PROTECT women against breast cancer, and that women who do not get enough iodine are at an increased risk of breast cancer.
“If there is sufficient iodine present, [the pro-carcinogenic] estrone [gets converted into the protective] estriol. but if there is not enough iodine, that won’t happen,” Dr. Wright notes.
He says that you can add iodine to your diet by adding kelp to your food, or eating seaweed like the Japanese do, but also notes that some women need to take an iodine supplement in order to get enough iodine so that their bodies will convert estrone into estriol.
[Note: David Brownstein, MD and Guy Abraham, MD who have written much about the health benefits of supplementing with large doses of iodine. They also note that getting iodine from iodized salt is NOT the answer. There is also a great article by Dr. Brownstein about his clinical experience with large doses of iodine here.] You can read more about iodine supplementation here.

Cobalt is necessary for the proper retention of estrogen, testosterone, cortisol, Jonathan Wright MD
In this 3.5-minute audio clip Jonathan Wright, MD notes that getting an adequate amount of cobalt is necessary for the proper retention of estrogen and testosterone and cortisol and other steroid hormones in the body.
He notes that a very small amount of cobalt is essential for life.
He notes that most people get enough cobalt in their diet, but a few people need to take a small dose of a cobalt supplement.
He notes that without adequate cobalt, that excess amounts of these hormones are excreted.

Bio-identical progesterone given orally reduces anxiety, improves sleep and PMS, Jonathan Wright, MD
There is one exception to the rule that steroid hormones should never be swallow, and that is for progesterone notes Jonathan Wright, MD.
In this one-minute audio clip he notes that for some women, taking half their progesterone orally and the other half applied inside the labia or inside the vagina (transmucosal administration), the oral dose goes to the liver and some of it is converted into naturally-occuring tranquilizers which help women sleep, help them if they are feeling anxious, and can help them with PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome).
All other steroid hormones—estrogens, testosterone and DHEA—should NEVER be swallowed.
They should always be rubbed into the skin—transdermal application—or better yet, applied to a mucous membrane—inside the labia or inside the vagina for women, or on the perianal mucosa for men (where a hemorrhoid would develop)—transmucosal administration—notes Jonathan Wright, MD.
He notes that when these hormones are taken orally, they go straight to the liver, and the liver tries to get rid of them.
By applying them to inside the labia or inside the vagina for women, or on the perianal mucosa for men, these hormones enter the blood stream in the same area of the body where they are normally released, and they travel to the heart, and then are distributed to all the cells of the body BEFORE going to the liver.
This includes DHEA (another steroid hormone). It should NOT be taken orally either because it converts to estrogen.

Giving women bio-identical progesterone along with estrogen is VERY important, Jonathan Wright, MD
Giving women bio-identical progesterone along with estrogen (and testosterone and DHEA) is VERY important notes Jonathan Wright, MD.
Dr. Wright also notes that he always tries to copy nature, copying the amount of each hormone is naturally in a young woman’s body, and copying when these hormones are released during a woman’s monthly cycle also, some being released only during the first 25 days of a 30 days cycle; some being released during the last half of her cycle, and others being release throughout the cycle.
He says we should always try to copy nature.

Jonathan Wright, MD’s book on bioidentical hormone replacement is the BEST notes Dr. Mercola
I am reading Jonathan Wright, MD’s fantastic book on bio-identical hormone replacement, Stay Young & Sexy with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement: The Science Explained (2009).
Dr. Wright is a pioneer in natural medicine and the doctor who started bioidentical hormone replacement in the US back in 1982 when he combined three bio-identical estrogens in the same ratio found naturally in young, healthy women into a compound called Tri-Estrogen or Tri-Est.
I will post articles summarizing highlights from the book, but for now, I am posting a few audio clips from an interview on the same topic that Joseph Mercola, DO (Mercola.com) did with Jonathan Wright, MD.
In this one-minute audio clip, Dr. Mercola says that this is the BEST book he has ever read on the topic.
Dr. Mercola says, “It really is brilliant.”
He goes on to say that “It is a phenomenal resource, and should be in everyone’s library who has any type of interest in this area, certainly any clinician who is taking care of women.”
Dr. Mercola notes that when he first started practicing medicine, he was paid by the drug companies to fly around and give speeches to doctors to tell them about the benefits of hormone replacement therapy.

He notes that they are:
- in better shape physically
- in better shape mentally
- have less cardiovascular disease
- have less Alzheimer’s Disease
- look younger than women of the same age not taking them
He notes that they are not going to prevent death, “but we can stay a lot healthier for a lot longer than we could without them.”

Bioidentical hormone replacement dramatically reduces the risk of Alzheimer’s, Jonathan Wright, MD
In this three-minute audio clip, Jonathan Wright, MD notes that bioidentical hormones reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease very significantly.
The notes there are both Observational Studies showing this, that women having the highest estrogen levels in their 60’s are least likely to have Alzheimer’s.
He notes that for men, the Princeton Men’s Study found that men with the highest level of FREE testosterone (NOT Total Testosterone) are least likely to have Alzheimer’s.
He also notes that the Rockefeller University Study found that when neurons were cultured, when hormones were absent, they collected intra-cellular debris which is known to be associated with Alzheimer’s (beta amyloid, tau protein, neurofibrillary tangles), but when hormones were introduced at physiological levels, the amount of this debris was reduced DRAMATICALLY, by something like 80-85% (15 to 20% of normal).

Bioidentical hormones (and all other hormones) should NOT be taken orally, Jonathan Wright, MD
In this seven-minute audio clip, Jonathan Wright, MD notes that bioidentical hormones (and all other hormones) should NOT be taken orally, but rather applied transmucosally (applied to a mucous membrane; inside the labia for women, and on the perianal mucosa for men (the same place a hemorrhoid would develop).)
He notes that, for example, estrogen, progesterone and testosterone are released into the blood stream, go to the heart, and then are distributed to the tissues BEFORE they pass through the liver.
He notes that if we take hormones ORALLY, they go to the liver first, where it is the liver’s job to GET RID OF THEM.
Dr. Wright notes that he ALWAYS tries to COPY NATURE.
He said that he USED TO apply these hormones transdermally (applied to the skin), however, back in the 1980’s he had a woman tell him that the hormones were no longer working, and she had been rotating where on the skin that she was applying the hormones.
When he checked her blood levels, he found that her hormone levels were FALLING.
He had this woman switch from applying the hormones transdermally to a transmucosal administration, applying the hormones inside the labia, and using the SAME prescription, her hormone levels came back up to where they had been.
After doing so, she said, “I feel better!”
He notes that the same thing happens with men who apply testosterone on the skin.
It works for awhile, and then hormone levels fall.
So he has men apply testosterone to the perianal mucosa (the mucosal membrane around the anus, where a hemorrhoid would develop.)
He notes that for men, this is the ONLY mucous membrane in the groin area, which allows testosterone to enter the body into the bloodstream in the same area that it normally comes from.

Provera is NOT progesterone, and does NOT belong in the body notes Jonathan Wright, MD
In this four-minute audio clip, Jonathan Wright, MD notes that Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is NOT progesterone, but rather progestin, and does NOT belong in the body.
He noted that Provera (medroxyprogesterone) is a synthetic chemical that the drug companies came up with so that they would have a patented drug to sell.
Provera causes most of the problems
Provera found to cause most of the problems with conventional hormone replacement
He notes that Provera (medroxyprogesterone) was found to cause most of the problems in women receiving conventional, non-bioidentical, hormone replacement therapy.
Provera is a FOREIGN molecule
Provera NEVER existed on Earth before the drug companies synthesized it
He notes that this molecule NEVER existed on earth before the drug companies synthesized it.
Because of this he notes that it does NOT belong in women’s bodies. (Don’t take it!)
He notes that Provera (Medroxyprogesterone) is the hormone which was found to cause most of the problems in the Women’s Health Initiative (WHI) study.
Premarin (conjugated estrogens) should NOT be taken either
Premarin (conjugated estrogens) is NOT appropriate for human females either, and is NOT even appropriate for NON-pregnant horses
In his book he also notes that Premarin (conjugated estrogens from pregnant horses) contains some estrogens which are NOT found in women’s bodies, and notes that the amounts of other estrogens found in Premarin are COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than what are normally found in women’s bodies.
This is why Premarin (conjugated estrogens from pregnant horses) and Provera (Medroxyprogesterone) have caused so many problems (increased risk of cancer, etc.)
In his wonderful book, he also explains that Premarin (conjugated estrogens from pregnant horses) is ONLY appropriate for pregnant horses, and is NOT even appropriate for non-pregnant horses, let alone human females.
Would you put horse blood into a human?
Would you transplant an organ from a horse to a human, or put horse blood into a human? Then why would anyone think it makes sense to give estrogens from pregnant horses (Premarin) to a human?
In his book he makes the analogy that no one would think of putting horse blood into humans.
And no one would think of transplanting an organ from a horse into a human.
So why would anyone think that it makes sense to give horse estrogens (Premarin) to humans?

How to find a doctor who understands proper use of bioidentical hormones, Jonathan Wright, MD
In this one-minute audio clip, Jonathan Wright, MD tells how to find a doctor who understands how to properly administer bioidentical hormone replacement (and is likely to have taken Dr. Wright’s 3-day course on how to do this).
You can find a doctor by searching for a doctor in your area on the website for the
American College for the Advancement in Medicine (ACAM)
8001 Irvine Center Drive, Ste 825
Irvine, CA 92618 USA
949.309.3520 phone
949.309.3538 fax
Email them through their website
Locate an ACAM Physician
Jonathan Wright, MD is the author of the fantastic book on bio-identical hormone replacement, Stay Young & Sexy with Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement: The Science Explained (2009).
ONLY go to a doctor who knows what they are doing
In 2004, in Suzanne Somers’s book, The Sexy Years, her doctor was using these hormones WRONG
On page 268 of his book, Dr. Wright notes that:
“While Suzanne Somers has brought an enormous amount of public attention to BHRT (Thank you very much, Suzanne!) the use of 1 milligram or more of estradiol daily (without estriol, as described in The Sexy Years in 2004) may have put her at unnecessary risk.
“But after we discussed estriol for her 2008 book Breakthrough, I suspect she may be balancing her estradiol with estriol now.
“Most women can achieve the same effects with considerably smaller quantities of estradiol along with estriol, which offsets the carcinogenic tendencies of estradiol (and in some cases estrone, which the body naturally forms from estradiol).”
I, [Larry Hobbs], assume that Suzanne Somers, who lives in Malibu, California (north of Los Angeles) was getting her bioidentical hormone replacement from a well-known doctor in Los Angeles.
However, it seems that this doctor did NOT know what he was doing at the time.
That is why it is ESSENTIAL that you find a doctor who knows exactly how to use bioidentical hormones and who has taken Dr. Wright’s 3-day course on the topic to get certified that they know what they are doing.
In the book, Dr. Wright goes on to state that “100% Bio-Identical Estradiol Products Are Risky”.
In other words, make sure you find a doctor who knows what they are doing when it comes to bioidentical hormone replacement.
ONLY go to a doctor who knows what they are doing
In 2004, in Suzanne Somers’s book, The Sexy Years, her doctor was using these hormones WRONG
I would ONLY go to a doctor who has taken Dr. Wright’s 3-day course on how to properly administer bioidentical hormones and do the follow-up tests required to ensure proper hormone levels.
I would call and ask if they have taken this course, and even ask to see their certificate BEFORE choosing them to help you with this.
I would start by looking for doctors near you on the ACAM website, and then call and ask them if they have taken Dr. Wright’s course.
If they have NOT taken his course—even if they tell you they have given hormones to thousands of patients—I would look for another doctor who has been certified by Dr. Wright who is the foremost expert in this area.
Remember, Suzanne Somers, who I assume was going to a famous doctor in Los Angeles, who may have been treating lots of movie stars and famous people, did NOT know what he or she was doing, and was doing it WRONG in 2004, and may have been putting Suzanne Somers at risk for cancer and other problems.
Don’t be a Guinea pig.

Jonathan Wright, MD tells how two patients 40 years ago opened his eyes to natural treatments
In this video clip, Jonathan Wright, MD, a pioneer in natural medicine, tells how about 40 years ago, two patients opened his eyes to the fact that natural treatments work, and made him realize that there was a big gap in his medical education.

Many people have been convinced by the drug companies that heartburn and indigestion in people who are in their 40’s, 50’s and above is caused by TOO MUCH stomach acid, and have been convinced that what they need is to take an antacid or an acid blocking drug.
However, Jonathan Wright, MD, a pioneer in natural medicine, notes in this video that most of these people have TOO LITTLE stomach acid, and that the answer for these people is, after being tested to ensure that they have too little stomach acid, they need to take hydrochloric acid tablets along with the digestive enzyme pepsin to replace what they have lost with age.

“In 1976 when we got a gadget in here which very precisely measures stomach acid output, since that time, literally a couple thousand [people] or more must have come in, in that length of time with heartburn, belching, gas and so on, who had been told [by their doctors] to take antacids in the early days, or they [their doctor] told them to take an acid-blocker, or they told me to take a protein pump-inhibitor… and I will ask them a very simple question, ‘Did you ever have your stomach output measured?’, and since 1976, EVERYONE has said, ‘No.’,” notes Jonathan Wright, MD, a pioneer in natural medicine.
He notes that it is a VERY simple thing to do, and is a VERY PRECISE test, and yet NO ONE has ever had this tested by their doctor before telling them to take an antacid or acid-blocking drug.
He also notes that the specification on how to do the test were published in the Canadian Medical Journal back in 1969 or 1970.
“We find that 99% of the time when people have those symptoms [heartburn, indigestion, bloating, belching and gas], there isn’t enough [stomach] acid, and we tell them that they need to take hydrochloric acid and pepsin tablets with their meals.”

About 5% of people with low stomach acid need stomach reconditioning, Jonathan Wright, MD
In about 5% of people with low stomach acid, their stomaches are so atrophied that even a little bit of stomach acid hurts—taking hydrochloric acid and pepsin tablets with meals—and so they need a program to recondition their stomach to get them back to normal before they can start taking hydrochloric acid and pepsin tablets with meals notes Jonathan Wright, MD, a pioneer in natural medicine.

Antacids and acid-blocking drugs cause malnutrition notes Jonathan Wright, MD
People who have too little stomach acid—usually people in their 40’s, 50’s and above who have heartburn and indigestion—are malnourished because they don’t absorb all the vitamins, minerals, protein, etc that they should from food notes Jonathan Wright, MD, a pioneer in natural medicine.
He notes that antacids and acid-blocking drugs that these people are usually prescribed, inadvertently cause malnutrition.

People with low stomach acid or taking acid-blocking drugs are malnourished, Jonathan Wright, MD
People who have too little stomach acid—usually people in their 40’s, 50’s and above who have heartburn and indigestion—or those who are taking an acid-blocking drug, can eat the best organic food in the world and take lots of vitamins and minerals, but if enough stomach acid isn’t there, or if they are taking an acid-blocking drug, they won’t absorb a lot of these essential nutrients notes Jonathan Wright, MD, a pioneer in natural medicine.
However, he notes that most people don’t recognize these drugs as causing us to get sick because it make take several years before we get sick due to malnutrition.
He says that blocking stomach acid with these drugs CANNOT possibly be good for your health.
