To me, this is exactly what modern medicine does with blood pressure, with cholesterol, with diabetes, and often, with anxiety and depression.
They tell people, "You will have to take these drugs for blood pressure... cholesterol... etc. every day for the rest of your life."
As noted in the 1993 book "Coronary Heart Disease: The Dietary Sense and Nonsense, an evaluation by scientists", doctors become the unwitting salesmen for drug companies.
