According to a study from Spain, the amount of weight loss five years after weight loss surgery was as follows:
  • 66 percent of excess weight lost after gastroplasty

  • 69 percent of excess weight lost after gastric bypass

  • 79 percent of excess weight lost after duodenal switch.

Vertical banded gastroplasty more effective than Lap Band surgery for weight loss

Vertical Banded Gastroplasty weight loss surgery seems to be more effective than Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding according to a recent study. Patients who underwent Vertical Banded Gastroplasty lost 87 percent of their excess weight after six months compared to 50 percent in patients given Laparoscopic Adjustable Gastric Banding.
