Isomerized hop extract, a natural product required in the beer brewing process, reduced weight gain in mice fed a high-fat diet according to a new study. Inhibits pancreatic lipase, same as Xenical

The product seems to work by inhibiting pancreatic lipase, the key enzyme required for digestion and absorption of dietary fat.

    Xenical inhibits same enzyme

This action is the same as the prescription diet pill Xenical (orlistat).

So do green tea and oolong tea

Green tea and oolong tea also inhibit this enzyme.

Isomerized hop extract increases fat excretion

Mice given the compound showed reduced levels of fat in their blood (triglycerides) and excreted more fat in their stool.

    Consists mainly of isohumulones

Isomerized hop extract consists mainly of isohumulones.
