Boosting metabolism: High-protein diet boosts metabolism

A high-protein diet attenuates the decrease in metabolism seen following weight loss according to one study.
Metabolism only drops half as much with high-protein diet
One study found that metabolism decreased only half as much after 7 days when people ate a high protein diet compared to those eating a high carbohydrate or high fat diet (-3.2% vs -6.1% vs -7.1%, respectively).
Difference equals 50 calories per day
The difference was equal to approximately 50 calories per day.
