    Comments

Comments: Other studies show that high fiber diets lower body weight

A number of studies have found that higher fiber diets are associated with lower body weight.

One study found that lean people eat 50 percent more fiber than obese people.

Another study found that those eating the most fiber weighed 4-9 pounds less than those eating the least, and, most interestingly, found that a low intake of dietary fiber was more predictive of cardiovascular disease than was saturated fat intake.

Practical advice: Eat fiber-rich foods. If not, take a fiber supplement. I prefer one-half Tablespoon of psyllium plus one-half Tablespoon of guar gum per day—which is about 5 grams (5,000 mg) of each.
