VTrim, an on-line, therapist-led structured behavioral weight loss website from the University of Vermont, produced greater initial weight loss and greater weight loss after one year than eDiets.com, a self-help commercial website according to a new study from the University of Vermont. Six month weight loss, VTrim vs eDiets.com : 18.3 lbs vs 9 lbs
After six months, patients assigned to the VTrim lost an average of 18.3 pounds compared to 9 pounds for those assigned to eDiets.com.
Weight loss after 1 year
One year weight loss, VTrim vs eDiets.com : 17.2 lbs vs 7.5 lbs
After one year, patients in the VTrim group maintained an average weight loss of 17.2 pounds versus 7.5 pounds for those in the eDiets.com group.
Subjects : 124 people
The study involved 124 overweight and obese adults who were 18-years or older.
