120 mg of glucomannan plus 120 mg of guar gum before meals increased weight loss by 4.4 lbs

People given 120 mg of glucomannan plus 120 mg of guar gum before meals and who were on a 1200 calorie per day diet lost an average of 9 pounds in five weeks compared to 4.6 pounds for those given a placebo, a difference of 4.4 pounds, according to a study from the University of Tromso in Tromso, Norway. Doses
Doses: 120 mg of glucomannan plus 120 mg of guar gum before each meal
The women took 6 tablets fifteen minutes before each meal and 4 tablets at 3 PM.
The fiber supplement they took was called Appe-Trim.
Each tablet contained:
- 56 mg of glucomannan
This means that before each meal they took approximately:
- 120 mg of glucomannan
- 120 mg of guar gum
And at 3 PM they took:
- 80 mg of glucomannan
- 80 mg of guar gum
The total daily intake was:
- 420 mg of glucomannan
- 420 mg of guar gum
Subjects: 60 women
The study involved 60 overweight people who were 19- to 60-years-old.
