Vertical-banded gastroplasty and gastric banding help men lose about 100 lbs, women about 80 lbs

Men who underweight vertical-banded gastroplasty weight loss surgery or adjustable gastric banding lost an average of about 100 pounds and women lost about 80 pounds which was nearly a third (29 percent) of their body weight according to a study from researchers at Rouen University Hospital in Rouen, France. On average, men went from roughly 345 pounds to 245 pounds, whereas women dropped from 280 pounds down to 200.

The study questioned 200 patients who had undergone the procedure from 1994 to 2003.
