Normal weight people who ate 1.5 medium peeled apples, which contained about 125 calories, ate an average of 187 fewer calories at lunch than people who were given applesauce or nothing according to a study from Barbara Rolls at Pennsylvania State University who has written a lot about how eating bulky foods that are low in calories -- low calore dense foods -- reduces food intake. Chewing reduces food intake

Foods that you have to chew are more satisfying

This study also shows that foods that you have to chew are more satisfying than foods that you don’t.
