One-third of women maintained 5% weight loss 5-11 years after weight loss program, one in seven 10%

Five to eleven years after a popular commercial weight loss program in Canada called Mincavi which is based on Canada's Food Guide, nearly one-third of women surveyed ( 29 percent ) maintained a weight loss of 5 percent, and one-seventh of women surveyed ( 14 percent ) maintained a weight loss of 10 percent. 5% Weight Loss

The percent of women who maintained at least a 5 percent weight loss several years after the program were as follows:
- 43.6% after two years
- 33.3% after three years
- 23.8% after four years
- 38.2% after 5-6 years
- 29.4% after 7-8 years
- 19.6% after 9-11 years.
Subjects
Subjects : 291 adult women who had followed the program 2-11 years earlier
The study involved 291 adult women chosen at random for a telephone questionnaire who were from various regions of the province of Quebec, who had followed the program 2 to 11 years earlier for at least a month.
