The predicted weight loss for a 40-year-old, 396 pound sedentary man who does not change his physical activity, but reduces his calorie intake is as follows according to a new model by Kevin D. Hall and Peter N. Jordan from the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, USA:
- 100 calories per day is roughly 19 lbs
- 200 calories per day is roughly 37 lbs
- 300 calories per day is roughly 54 lbs
- 400 calories per day is roughly 72 lbs
- 500 calories per day is roughly 89 lbs
- 600 calories per day is roughly 105 lbs
- 700 calories per day is roughly 122 lbs
- 800 calories per day is roughly 137 lbs
- 900 calories per day is roughly 152 lbs
- 1,000 calories per day is roughly 167 lbs
- 1,100 calories per day is roughly 180 lbs
- 1,200 calories per day is roughly 193 lbs
- 1,300 calories per day is roughly 206 lbs
- 1,400 calories per day is roughly 217 lbs
- 1,500 calories per day is roughly 228 lbs
