People lost an average of 76 lbs in six months, 97 lbs in one year following Roux-en-Y gastric bypass surgery according to a new paper from researchers at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. USA. Body Weight
Body weight: 283 lbs at the start; 204 lbs after 6 months; 185 lbs after one year
On average, body weight went from 283 lbs at the start, to 204 lbs after six months, and 185 lbs after one year.
BMI: 46 at the start; 34 after 6 months; 30 after one year
Body Mass Index (BMI) dropped from an average of 46.3 at the start, to 33.5 after six months, and 30.4 after one year.
Subjects: 4 men, 25 women
The study involved 4 men and 25 women with extreme obesity, who, on average, were age of 44-years-old.
Five were Black, and 24 were White.
