The number of patients reporting constipation fell 40% when they were taking Synthroid (T4 thyroid hormone) to 14% when they were switched to natural desiccated thyroid notes Mark Starr, MD in his wonderful book Mark Starr, MD talks about this in his wonderful book, Hypothyroidism, Type 2: The Epidemic.

This was according to a study done by third generation clinical endocrinologist, Dr. Jacques Hertoghe and two colleagues who found that symptoms of hypothyroidism—fatigue, depression, cold intolerance, constipation, headaches, muscle cramps, joint and muscle pain (rheumatoid), and slow achilles reflex—were dramatically reduced when patients were switched from Synthroid (T4 thyroid hormone) to Natural Desiccated Thyroid.

Switching patients from Synthroid (T4 thyroid hormone) to Natural Desiccated Thyroid reduced

    constipation

from 40% of patients to 14% of patients.

In a long-term study done by third generation clinical endocrinologist, Dr. Jacques Hertoghe and two his colleagues, they found that the total number of symptoms—the symptom score—were NO BETTER in those taking Synthroid (T4) than Untreated Patients (10.4 to 10.7 in those taking Synthroid (T4) compared to 10.0 to 10.1 in patients with hypothyroidism who were taking NO thryoid)!

    Symptoms were score as:

The Symptom Score improved dramatically when putting untreated patients on Natural Desiccated Thyroid — falling from 10.1 to 3.6.

The Symptom Score also improved dramatically when they switched patients on Synthroid (T4) to Desiccated thyroid — falling from 10.7 to 3.6.

This shows that Natural Desiccated Thyroid is VASTLY superior to Synthroid (T4).

    Dose

Average dose of natural desiccated thyroid was 200-233 mg or 3 to 3.5 grains

The average dose of Natural Desiccated Thyroid was 200 to 233 mg or 3 to 3.5 grains.

    One grain equals 65 mg.
