"[The fourth tip for weight loss is to] buy your screen time [TV time and computer time] with activity," notes Robert Lustig, MD, pediatric endocrinoligist from the University of California, San Francisco in the 7-part video series called “The Skinny on Obesity” (Episode Extra (8)).

You should exercise an hour for every hour you watch TV

You should exercise an hour for every hour you watch TV or are on the computer or play video games

If your outside for 30 minutes, then you can watch TV for 30 minutes.

If you ride your bike for an hour, you can play video games for an hour.

“The problem is that the parents are using the TV as the babysitter, and they don’t want to give that up,” Lustig notes.

“The exercise has to be consistent and sustained.”

“It does not have large, but it has to be consistent and sustained, and that is not part of the American diet plan.”
