Antidepressants are dangerous, Peter Gotzsche, MD

“We are doing, more or less, the exact OPPOSITE of what we should be doing. These drugs [antidepressants] are DANGEROUS,” says Prof. Peter Gøtzsche, MD, author of Deadly Medicines and Organised Crime: How Big Pharma Has Corrupted Healthcare.
“They should be given [for] as short [a] period [of time] as possible, and then stopped.
“Very many patients should NOT get them at all.
“Most depressed patients recover by themselves.
“So why not wait and see, for some weeks, then many of them would not get [or need] an antidepressant.
“Then they would have no problem stopping [these] drugs.”
His book won won first prize in the “Basis of Medicine” category of the British Medical Association’s annual book awards for 2014.
