A 2007 outcome study found that the recovery rates for schizophrenics taking drugs (antipsychotics) was only 5%, whereas 40% of schizophrenics NOT taking drugs recovered noted author and journalist Robert Whitaker in an interview that he did with Salon.
However, Whitaker found that the National Institutes of Mental Health NEVER issued a press release about this study.
The National Alliance on Mental Illness NEVER issued a press release about this study.
The American Psychiatric Association NEVER mentioned this study in any books or publications.
Was this due to drug company influence?
Why would I ever believe anything that any these organizations say about treating any mental illness including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, schizophrenia or any other condition?
I don’t.
I see them as nothing more than partners with the drug companies to help the drug companies sell more drugs.
Robert Whitaker’s Book
