Modern medicine says that Type 2 diabetes is a progressive disease. This belief is wrong.
Type 2 diabetes does not have to be progressive.
You do not have to take insulin or other diabetes drugs for the rest of your life.
You can cure your Type 2 diabetes.
Below is a summary of a paper coauthored by Jason Fung, MD, author of the book The Complete Guide to Fasting and the book The Diabetes Code, describing three (3) people who cured their Type 2 diabetes by doing intermittent fasting, fasting 24 hours per day, 3 times per week.
For example, they would stop eating by 6 PM one day, and then not eat again until 6 PM the next day (24 hour fast).
On fasting days, the patients consumed only dinner, whereas on non-fasting days the patients consumed lunch and dinner.
They were recommended to eat low-carbohydrate meals.
All 3 Type 2 diabetics were taking at least 70 units of insulin per day which they were able to stop.
But first, here is a 1.5 minute video clip of Jason Fung, MD noting that after treating diabetics for about 10 years, he realized that giving diabetes drugs and insulin to Type 2 diabetics was NOT helping.
Dr. Fung realized that giving diabetics all of these diabetes drugs wasn’t helping a lot of people.
Dr. Fung realized he was just holding their hand until the patient had a heart attack, or until they went on dialysis, or until they went blind, or until they had their feet chopped off.
Dr. Fung notes that there is no money in having diabetics fast or go on a low-carb diet in order to cure their diabetes, so nobody was promoting it.
Dr. Fung notes that doctors are simply taught what drugs to give even if that is not the cause (or even if the drugs do not help).
Here is a description of 3 people who cured their Type 2 diabetes by doing intermittent fasting.
Patient 1 was a 40-year-old man diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for 20 years.
Patient 2 was a 52-year-old man diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for 25 years.
Patient 3 was a 67-year-old man diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes for 10 years.
Patients were instructed to do 24-hour fasts three (3) times per week over several months.
All three (3) patients were able to stop their insulin within 5-18 days.
Patient 1 fasted for 24 hours 3X per week.
He tolerated fasting without difficulty and said that he felt ‘excellent’ on his fasting days.
His HbA1C ranged from 5 to 10.
He lost 22 lbs (12% of his body weight) dropping from 184 lbs to 162 lbs.
He stopped his insulin after 5 days and was able to stop 3 of 4 diabetes drugs.
Patient 2 fasted 24 hours every other day (3-4X per week).
He reported that he felt ‘terrific’ on his fasting days.
His HbA1C was 5-6.
He lost 23 lbs (18% of his body weight) dropping from 134 lbs to 111 lbs.
He stopped his insulin after 18 days and stopped all of his diabetes drugs.
Patient 3 fasted for 24 hours 3X per week. He reported that he felt ‘terrific’ on his fasting days.
He said that he does not have the carbohydrate cravings he once had.
His HbA1C at the end of the study was 6.
He lost 20 lbs (10% of his body weight) dropping from 214 lbs to 194 lbs.
He stopped his insulin after 13 days and stopped all of his diabetes drugs.
Here is another 1.5 minute video clip of Jason Fung, MD noting that numerous studies have found that more intensive glucose control by giving diabetics drugs does NOT improve health, but, instead, increases the risk of death, and yet this idea continues to be pushed.
Dr. Fung notes that numerous studies have found that intensive glucose control with drugs does not help, and if anything, it makes things worse.
Dr. Fung says that we profess to live in this world of Evidence Based Medicine, but we don’t. It’s all just a bunch of crap.
Dr. Fung notes that the ACCORD study found that intensive glucose control with drugs increased the risk of death by 22%.
Numerous studies of diabetes drugs have found that intensive glucose control with drugs does not lower the risk of death.
In other videos, Dr. Fung explains why intermittent fasting can cure Type 2 diabetes.
The reason for this, as noted by Dr. Fung, is that Type 2 diabetes is caused by insulin resistance.
What causes insulin resistance? (as noted by Dr. Fung)
Insulin causes insulin resistance! (as noted by Dr. Fung)
Chronically elevated insulin causes insulin resistance! (as noted by Dr. Fung)
So by doing intermittent fasting, insulin levels fall, and insulin sensitivity is restored. (as noted by Dr. Fung)
Dr. Fung has also said that giving Type 2 diabetics insulin is only making the problem worse—insulin makes the insulin resistance worse which makes the Type 2 diabetes worse!
Dr. Fung notes that insulin lowers blood sugar, but that is NOT the problem, insulin resistance is the problem.
The point of this is that the belief that Type 2 diabetes is a progressive disease is WRONG!
The belief that Type 2 diabetics will have to take more and more drugs for their rest of their lives is WRONG.
Type 2 diabetes can be cured.
