The one-fourth of people consuming the most magnesium were 37% less likely to have dementia compared to the one-fourth consuming the least according to a study of 1081 people 60 and older living in Japan.
Conclusion
“Higher self-reported dietary intakes of potassium, calcium, and magnesium reduce the risk of all-cause dementia, especially [vascular dementia], in the general Japanese population,” the authors of the paper concluded.
