Endometrial cancer: Excess weight may account for 57% of U.S. cases in women

Being overweight or obese may account for 23 percent of female cases of endometrial cancer in the U.S..

The data used to estimate this was the prevelance of overweight and obesity from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 1999-2000 for men and women 50- to 69-years-old.

This according to an evaluation by The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) Working Group on the Evaluation of Cancer-Preventive Strategies.

Their evaluation is a comprehensive evaluation of the available literature on weight and cancer that considered epidemiological, clinical and experimental data.
