Childhood obesity: Since 1970, rates have increased 2-3 fold

In the last thirty years, the prevalence of obesity among preschool children aged 2-5 years and adolescents aged 12-19 years has more than doubled according to a new report on Childhood Obesity from the Institute of Medicine published September 30, 2004. Obesity amount 6-11 year olds has tripled
The prevalence of obesity among children aged 6-11 years in the last thirty years has more than tripled.
9 million obese children over 6-years-old
There are approximately nine million children over six years of age are obese.
