Eight percent of US population has diabetes

Diabetes has increased considerably in recent years because of the increase in obesity. Approximately 8 percent of the US population has diabetes, with 90 percent being type 2 diabetes, the type caused by obesity and insulin resistance.
Diabetes increases the risk of death from several common cancers according to a recent study.
