The obesity epidemic of the last 30 years is not simply due to gluttony and sloth says Robert Lustig, MD, pediatric endocrinoligist from the University of California, San Francisco in a 7-part video series called "The Skinny on Obesity" (Episode 1). The example he gives to prove that it is more than this is when he asks how do you explain obese 6-month-olds? They don't diet and exercise.
“What would be the exposure that can account for this obesity epidemic?” ask Robert Lustig, MD.
“If it was just gluttons and sloths, how do you explain the obese 6-month-old?
“We have an epidemic of obese 6-month-olds in this country
“They don’t diet and exercise.
“Are you going to call them a bunch of gluttons and sloths?
“This [cause of our obesity epidemic] goes way beyond the question of personal responsibility.”
