Being obese is the equivalent of being 11-years older for men, and 16-years older for women as far as functional health according to study from Cambridge, England.

The study looked at the association between body mass index (BMI) and self-reported functional health.

Greater Effect On Functional Health With Age

“This adverse effect of obesity on physical functional health was found to increase with age for both men and women,” the researcher found.

The study involved 20,921 people, 41- to 80-years-old, who were resident of Norfolk, England.
