From 1985 to 2002, the prevalence of obesity among Germany adults increased from 16.2 percent to 22.5 percent in females, and 16.2 percent to 23.5 percent in males.
The prevalence of “pronouced obesity”, defined as having a body mass index of 35 or more, increased from 4.5 to 7.5 percent in females, and 1.5 to 5.2 percent in males.
