“In my book, 'The High Blood Pressure Solution', you will find that [there] is no evidence that antihypertensive drugs save lives,” wrote Richard Moore, MD, PhD, professor and research scientist,
"[In fact,] the very best study ever done of drug treatment of 17,000 hypertensives over a five year period found 'no overall reduction in death rate' in those treated with drugs."
This is an excerpt from a letter by Richard Moore, MD, PhD dated August 31, 2009.
“This study did show a 30% reduction in strokes, but… Finland found that simply replacing table salt (sodium chloride) with a salt mixture containing some potassium and magnesium in addition to sodium reduced strokes by 60% in the whole country!”
“These results from Finland were published in a medical journal in 1986 – yet you have never heard of them!
“I wonder why?”
Here are some other quotes from Dr. Moore’s letter.
“[In our book, The K Factor (1986), we] showed that 95% of the cases of hypertension are due to a low ratio of potassium to sodium in the American diet.
“We did not emphasize it, but since you can’t repair a dietary deficiency with a synthetic chemical [a drug] this clearly indicated that drugs are not the answer for hypertension.”
About Dr. MooreAbout Dr. Moore
Dr. Moore’s received his M.D. from Indiana University, and his Ph.D. in biophysics from Purdue University.
Starting in 1963, Dr. Moore spent 40 years as a college professor and research scientist teaching and researching cellular biophysics.
Dr. Moore’s research group research group discovered that insulin regulates the activity of the mechanism that exchanges potassium for sodium in live cells.
Dr. Moore’s group also discovered that, connected with this, insulin elevates the pH inside cells.
This research and that of others then led to insights in how our dietary imbalance between potassium and sodium cause hypertension and other diseases.
“Since recognizing the critical importance of the dietary ratio of potassium-to-sodium (in 1983), I have been trying to educate the public about this issue primarily by writing books.”
Dr. Moore is the author of several books including “The High Blood Pressure Solution”.
Dr. Moore is the also co-author of “The Salt Solution”.
This book discusses how an imbalance of potassium and sodium not only affects:
• stroke
• hypertension
... but also how it affects:
• osteoporosis
• stomach cancer
• asthma
• kidney disease
