Teen girls who sleep 7 hours or less on weekdays weigh roughly 6 lbs more than those sleeping more than 7 hours according to a study by Radha Rao, MD, DeBakey of the VA Medical Center in Houston, Texas and others. BMI
BMI 4.7% higher in girls sleeping 7 hours or less
“Likewise, teen females who slept 7 hours or less had a BMI that was 4.7 percent higher than females who got more than 7 hours of sleep per weekday,” the Press Release notes.
This is equal to roughly 6 lbs for a girl who is 5-feet-4 inches tall.
