Tyrosine: Helpful while dieting?
Saturday, June 12, 2004 10:57 am Email this article
THE AMINO ACID L-TYROSINE may offset decreases in performance while dieting suggests recent research.
Mice on a severely restricted diet (containing only 40 percent of their necessary calories) showed impaired performance running a maze.
However, when they were given injections of L-tyrosine their pre-diet performance was maintained.
The authors suggested that tyrosine may be useful for preventing depression during dieting and assist in the management of anorexia nervosa.
