Someone emailed this morning and asked what I thought about the weight loss supplement CalTrap? CalTrap Ingredients
CalTrap is simply glucomannan fiber (konjac root)
CalTrap is nothing more than glucomannan fiber (konjac root).
This exactly the same as Lipozene except that Lipozene is in capsules, whereas CalTrap is simply glucomannan powder (konjac root powder) that you sprinkle on food.
Does It Block 25% of the Calories You Eat?
Does CalTrap block 25% of the calories you eat? No!
Can CalTrap (glucomannan / konjac root) block 25 percent of the calories you eat and prevent them from being absorbed by your body.
Fiber Blocks 30-180 Calories Per Day
In studies showing weight loss, fiber blocks 30-180 calories per day
As I wrote in my 1994 book The New Diet Pills, “In studies of fiber that resulted in weight loss, fiber supplements reduced the number of calories absorbed by 30 to 180 calories per day.” (Page 81, last paragraph, reference “Björntorp P, Brodoff, BN. Obesity. J. B. Lippincott Company, Philadelphia, 1992.”)
If you eat an 1800 calorie per day diet, 30 calories per day would be 1.6 percent of calories, and 180 calories would be 10 percent of calories.
Calories Blocked by Glucomannan?
I do not know how many calories are blocked by glucommanan
I do not know how many calories per day glucomannan blocks. I have not seen any studies specifying this.

See the article on Lipozene.
All the studies that I’ve seen have had people take glucomannan with water 30-60 minutes before a meal which expands in your stomach so you feel full and eat less food.
I would think that sprinkling it on food would not be as effective than taking capsules or powder mixed in water before a meal.
If you want to try it, and prefer to sprinkle it on food, simply buy the cheap capsules of glucomannan from Puritan’s Pride, open the capsules and sprinkle it on food.

. . . . .
Thank you so much for your thoughts and reflections on CalTrap. I have taken glucomannan prior to meals in the past-- both in the powder form, and in gel caps. I will see a weight reduction if I do it with regularity. I did order one month of CalTrap. Supposedly, I can return it at the end of the month and cancel the "automatic" billing and resend cycle. I suspect this will be a challenge. However, I am going to do the one month experiment and see what happens. I didn't have to pay up front except for $2.95 in shipping. I have no doubt that canceling and returning will not be easy.
