In this three-minute audio clip, Jonathan Wright, MD notes that bioidentical hormones reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease very significantly.
The notes there are both Observational Studies showing this, that women having the highest estrogen levels in their 60’s are least likely to have Alzheimer’s.
He notes that for men, the Princeton Men’s Study found that men with the highest level of FREE testosterone (NOT Total Testosterone) are least likely to have Alzheimer’s.
He also notes that the Rockefeller University Study found that when neurons were cultured, when hormones were absent, they collected intra-cellular debris which is known to be associated with Alzheimer’s (beta amyloid, tau protein, neurofibrillary tangles), but when hormones were introduced at physiological levels, the amount of this debris was reduced DRAMATICALLY, by something like 80-85% (15 to 20% of normal).
