Obese Japanese people given one tablespoon (15 ml) of vinegar per day—half a tablespoon after lunch and half a tablespoon after dinner—lost 2.6 pounds in 3 months, dropping from roughly 165 lbs to 162 lbs, compared to no weight loss in the placebo group according to a 2009 study from Japan.
(Obesity in Japan is defined as having a body mass index (BMI) of 25-30 compared to obesity elsewhere being defined as having a BMI of 30 or more.)
